Once you start smudging Palo Santo good energies just flow! Our origin of our wood is Peru. According to the country's indigenous heritage Palo Santo is predominantly for smudging. In this process it evaporates a subtle aroma - woody with hints of pine, lemon and mint.

Farmer collectives spread out into the forest to gather branches, bark and wood which have fallen off from trees or belong to dead trees. This description might appear like a simple technicality but it is truly unique.

By not logging trees or chopping off branches the natural stock of Palo Santo forests remains unharmed. At the same time rural communities benefit from the harvest.

Some of the poorest regions of the Peru have gained access to a steady income through Palo Santo trade. Its tax revenues have enabled them to demand infrastructural investments from their government.

THE RITUAL

 

Take one stick and light it with a match or lighter. Allow Palo Santo stick to burn up to a minute. Then carefully contain flames using feather or fan. Move around the space you wish to clear the energy and let the smoke waft around you. This space can be your yoga shala, bedroom, office, car or entire home. A rich aroma will fill the air, bringing peace and clarity to the moment and cleansing the space. Once you have completed the cleansing, place wood in a fireproof bowl allowing embers to burn out.

Palo Santo is a dry forest tree and is also called ' sacred wood ' translated . The tree blooms yellow and has hard, resinous wood. He is regarded as a strong and resilient tree that is under extremely harsh conditions prevalent in South America in the highlands of the Andes. Palo Santo belongs botanically to the Bursera family. The special feature is a high resin content (Copal resin) in the wood.

 

Our Palo Santo Sticks / sticks are about 9 cm long, and about 2 cm wide. The weight and width can sometimes be a little different due to the nature of how the logs have been chopped.  So the above measurements are approx not exact.

 

The smell when our Palo Santo sticks when lit is wonderfully sweet, with a hint of coconut and a rich flavor, makes our wood very special indeed ✨
