Connection Does Not Require Binding ✨

I’ve felt the need to write this for a while.
Recently, I saw something within the spiritual community that made me stop and think deeply about the difference between connection and energetic binding.
No names. No judgement. Everyone is entitled to walk their spiritual path in the way that feels right for them.
But I do think we need to talk more openly about spiritual sovereignty and about understanding what we are actually consenting to when we take part in spiritual practices.
I was raised through the teachings of my mother, my grandmother and the lineage before me with a very simple understanding:
We are already connected.
We do not need to bind ourselves to another person, group or place in order to experience that connection.
This photograph was taken in Sedona, a place I felt incredibly connected to.
I could stand there, open my arms, feel the land beneath my feet and receive everything that moment offered me.
And then I could leave.
I didn’t need to weave myself into the land to honour what I felt there.
The same applies to people.
Within my understanding of energy, when we physically connect with another person, there can be an energetic exchange.
A hug is a connection.
Holding someone’s hand is a connection.
Sitting beside somebody and holding space for them is a connection.
There is nothing wrong with that. Human connection is beautiful.
But be mindful of the energy you are giving and the energy you are receiving.
A hug can end with a hug.
Holding someone’s hand can end when you release their hand.
You can acknowledge the connection, give thanks for the moment and return to your own energetic space.
And this is where DISCERNMENT becomes incredibly important.
Especially when attending retreats, ceremonies, women’s circles, sister circles or any other spiritual gathering.
Please ask questions.
What am I actually being asked to participate in?
What is the intention behind this ritual?
Am I simply connecting with the people around me, or am I being asked to intentionally weave, bind, cord or anchor my energy to them?
Am I being asked to bind myself energetically to a particular place?
Does this practice honour my individual sovereignty?
And most importantly:
DO I FULLY UNDERSTAND WHAT I AM CONSENTING TO?
Because there is a difference between connection and intentional binding.
And sometimes people participate in spiritual practices without really understanding the intention or symbolism behind what they are being asked to do.
You are allowed to ask.
You are allowed to question.
You are allowed to say no.
You are allowed to participate in one part of a ceremony and decline another.
And any responsible practitioner should respect that completely.
We can sit in a circle together without binding ourselves together.
We can meditate together.
We can heal together.
We can hold sacred space together.
We can hug.
We can hold hands.
We can share an extraordinary experience.
And then we can release one another and continue on our individual paths.
That is spiritual sovereignty.
This is also why I distinguish energetic work from energetic binding.
When I work with crystals, for example, I may place crystals within someone's energetic field, with their permission and for a particular healing intention, not to give them the answers, but to enlighten and awaken something within them so they can begin to seek their own.
Enlightening the body and the mind, allowing the soul to lift to see with clearer eyes, to hear more deeply and to understand where it needs to be.
There is a beginning.
There is an ending.
There is release.
I am not binding that person’s energy to mine. I am awakening them to seek truth within themselves to find their own answers to the questions their soul is asking.
Your soul has its own calling.
Your soul has its own lessons.
Your soul has its own journey.
And another person has theirs.
Within my own spiritual understanding, I also believe that some of the people and places we feel extraordinarily connected to may have connections that extend beyond this lifetime.
For me, that makes discernment even more important.
Why would I intentionally create another energetic tie when my purpose is to allow myself and others, the freedom to continue evolving?
Love does not require possession.
Connection does not require attachment.
Community does not require conformity.
And spirituality should never require you to surrender your sovereignty.
We don’t need more energetic knots.
Sometimes the deepest form of love is allowing another soul to be completely free.
Free to grow.
Free to change.
Free to leave.
Free to return.
Free to choose their own path.
The photograph above represents that beautifully for me.
Connected to Sedona.
Open to the experience.
Grateful for the moment.
But free to continue walking my own path.
Connect deeply.
Love deeply.
Experience deeply.
But remain sovereign.
Because we can be connected to everything without needing to be bound to anything. ✨
Much love

Natasha Longman is the founder of Always Believe In Miracles, working from her Crystal Sanctuary and Studio in the Essex countryside, as well as offering private one-to-one sessions and hosting selected events in Shepherd’s Bush and Mayfair, London.
Natasha’s work brings together crystal healing, energetic alignment, Reiki, somatic and spinal energetics, meditation and intuitive practices, helping people reconnect with themselves, understand their own energy and seek the answers that already exist within them.
Her Essex Crystal Studio is home to an extraordinary collection of over 240 different types of crystals from around the world, carefully and ethically sourced from trusted, authentic mines and suppliers. The studio provides a beautiful space where people can experience crystals personally, learn about their properties and choose the pieces that resonate with them.
Alongside her private one-to-one work, Natasha offers workshops, accredited crystal healing courses, group healing experiences, meditation sessions, seasonal and energetic events, and collaborations with other practitioners. Her work extends beyond Essex through private sessions, workshops and events in London, alongside other pop-ups and collaborations throughout the year.
Education is an important part of Natasha’s work. Through her books, courses, workshops and teachings, she shares the knowledge she has developed through years of working with crystals and energy, encouraging people to develop their own connection, intuition and understanding rather than looking outside themselves for all the answers.
At the heart of Natasha’s work is truth, clarity and transformation. Through reading and working with a person’s energetic field, Natasha helps identify patterns, blocks and behaviours that may be holding them back, bringing awareness to what they may not yet be able to see for themselves. She offers clear guidance on what needs to change, while helping each person reconnect with their own intuition, strength and direction so they can move forward with greater clarity and purpose.
Healing your past, aligning your present & awakening your soul’s purpose.
